In 2025, the options are endless for seven-passenger people movers, as a lot of manufacturers have gotten smart by adding two extra seats in the trunk section to accommodate additional passengers. In Grasso’s Garage today, we consider the Subaru Ascent, another model taking advantage of the usable space and accommodating those who need to move more things and people.

Our 2025 Subaru Ascent Limited tester was wrapped in Autumn Green Metallic, another addition to Subaru’s deep lineup of nature-inspired colors.

With black exterior accents and bronze 20-inch wheels, the Ascent checks a lot of boxes for consumers. Its all-wheel drive system, STARLINK safety program and intense safety notification are outstanding for the average consumer but could be quite annoying at times, with endless sounds and notifications potentially distracting the driver and passengers.

Its off-road ability is not as wide as the Wilderness package offers, but the Limited certainly has its fair share of usage. Powering the 2025 Subaru Ascent Limited is the ever-popular 2.4-liter DOHC turbocharged four-cylinder Subaru boxer engine, producing 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. Paired with a Lineartronic CVT transmission, the Ascent tends to be less noisy on the interior than previously tested Subaru models.

Inside, the Ascent offers comfortable seats, 13 cup holders, a Harman Kardon surround sound and tri-zone climate control in addition to a wide array of safety features.

Many Subaru customers enjoy traveling, camping, hiking and biking, and their vast array of vehicles delivers for every consumer. Their off-road-designed vehicles have good ground clearance, roof rails, X-MODE with traction management and LED steering-responsive headlights. These small items go a long way in the Subaru lineup, as they are standard features and provide a great sense of comfort to the driver.

As for the Ascent, it's business as usual with similarities to other models in the fleet. With a price point below $50K and seven seats, the Ascent is fit for Subaru lovers looking for more space than the Forester or Outback.
