Las Vegas Strip casino now accepts cryptocurrency for gaming
Published in Business News
Sahara hotel-casino has begun accepting cryptocurrency to fund gaming transactions, becoming the first Strip property to announce the option, according to payment provider BurraPay.
The platform allows customers to deposit Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin at the casino cage in exchange for chips, tickets and other gaming funds. The cryptocurrency payment option is available for wagering throughout the casino.
The deployment follows BurraPay’s June launch at an unnamed downtown Las Vegas casino, which the company said made it the first cryptocurrency payment provider to operate in Nevada’s regulated gaming market.
BurraPay said its platform was designed to meet U.S. gaming regulatory requirements and includes anti-money laundering safeguards and blockchain monitoring technology. The company offers both integrated systems for casino player accounts and an over-the-counter solution for land-based properties.
“Expanding our payment options to include cryptocurrency is a natural next step,” Sahara General Manager Craig Pleva said in a statement.
BurraPay co-founder and CTO Luke Millanta said the Strip deployment reflects growing interest from casino operators and customers.
