Published in News & Features
Rosie Roche, a relative of the UK royal family who was cousin to Princes William and Harry, was found dead with a gun nearby, according to reports.
The UK Sun reported Monday that Roche — the granddaughter of Princess Diana’s uncle Edmund Roche — was found at her family’s home in Wiltshire on July 14. She was discovered by her mother and sister and had been packing for a vacation.
A coroner told the outlet the death was not considered suspicious and there were no other people involved, but the coroner’s court opened an investigation that was adjourned until Oct. 25.
The 20-year-old was working on a degree in English literature at Durham University.
She was described as a “darling” daughter, sister and granddaughter in an obituary published in the Yorkshire Post. The notice added that a private memorial service would be held at a later date.
The royal family hasn’t commented on Roche’s death publicly.
