Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene said President Donald Trump is putting her life in danger with a social post calling her a traitor to the Republican Party amid a falling-out centering on government files on the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

An escalating clash between Trump and Greene — previously a fervent supporter of the president — has heightened attention on her and a small number of other House Republicans calling for a full release of Justice Department files on Epstein, which House Speaker Mike Johnson and Trump have resisted. The House plans to vote on releasing the files on Tuesday.

Trump called Greene a traitor and “a disgrace” to her party in a social post on Saturday, after saying he was withdrawing his support and encouraging a primary challenge to Greene in her Georgia district.

“The most hurtful thing he said, which is absolutely untrue, is he called me a traitor,” Greene said Sunday on CNN’s "State of the Union." “That is so extremely wrong and those are the types of words used that can radicalize people against me and put my life in danger.”

Greene said she wouldn’t back down. “Unfortunately, it has all come down to the Epstein files, and that is shocking,” she added.

Greene also has clashed with her party in Congress over subsidies for Obamacare, which she urged House GOP leaders to extend to end the recent shutdown more quickly. She has suggested that Trump is straying from his “America First” agenda with foreign military deployments and diplomatic engagement, telling CNN that Trump should refocus on domestic matters.

Trump has pushed back on calls from some of his supporters to release more information on the investigation into Epstein, claiming that the focus on the disgraced financier and his ties to him are a Democratic “hoax” aimed at distracting from his agenda.

The Justice Department announced Friday it would launch an investigation into Epstein’s ties to prominent Democrats, including former President Bill Clinton, after Trump publicly demanded such a probe.
