Singer D4vd is reportedly now being considered a suspect in the apparent murder of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, whose dismembered remains were found stuffed in the trunk of the singer’s impounded Tesla in September.

Multiple national and local outlets reported Tuesday that investigators are looking at D4vd as a suspect, though it’s unclear if any paperwork has been formally filed to classify him as such.

Investigators are also viewing Celeste’s death as a homicide despite no official determination from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. Once a cause of death can be confirmed, an arrest and charges could soon follow.

D4vd, 20, had been renting a house in Hollywood and abandoned his Tesla nearby. After it was eventually towed to an impound lot, Celeste’s decomposing remains were found on Sept. 8 when a foul odor was reported to police.

While the car had been impounded just three days prior, investigators believe the body may have been in the trunk for some time. Neighbors said the car had been parked for more than a month before it was towed, and detectives have reason to believe Celeste was killed in the spring or early summer.

Sources told NBC Los Angeles that the manner in which Celeste was dismembered indicates more than one person was involved. Detectives have reportedly been in contact with multiple people believed to be involved in some way, sources told ABC News, though no arrests have been made.

Contrary to previous reports, D4vd — who was on tour when the body was found — has not been cooperating with police, sources said. Adding further speculation are reports that he transferred ownership of two of his Texas homes to his mother in the weeks after the grisly discovery.

The teen girl who was found dead in singer D4vd’s Tesla in Los Angeles was identified Wednesday as Celeste Rivas, a 15-year-old girl who had been missing for more than a year. Celeste had been missing since April 2024, when she was just 13. She’d run away from her home in Lake Elsinore, Calif. least two other times in the months before that, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.

Details of D4vd’s supposed relationship with the victim have circulated online, but have not been confirmed by investigators. They reportedly had matching tattoos and people who knew the pair have said they believed they were a couple.

Matthew Rivas, Celeste’s brother, told NBC LA earlier this year that she was on her way to see a movie with D4vd but never returned home.

Police reportedly confiscated surveillance video from the singer’s rental home in October. The Los Angeles Times reported in September that D4vd has broken his lease and moved out early.

The investigation remains ongoing.
