Dan Bongino departs FBI for apparent return to podcasting

NEW YORK — Former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said goodbye to his short-lived gig with the Trump administration for what appears to be a return to podcasting.
The 51-year-old right-wing pundit signed off from his government X account over the weekend. He then used his personal account to thank fans for their patience as he prepares to make his next move.
“I’ll have some announcements coming up but I’m taking a couple of days to spend with the family,” he wrote.
Bongino confirmed last month that he would leave the job he was sworn into in March. Almost immediately after joining the FBI, the former Fox News personality told his old colleagues he didn’t like his new gig, but was serving at the pleasure of President Donald Trump.
On Monday, Bongino called working for the administration “the experience of a lifetime” and praised his ex-boss for the job he’s doing. “The Dan Bongino Show” podcast host then promised supporters they’ll hear from him again soon.
“Thank you for your interest in the show and its return date,” he said. “We will have something for you soon.”
The Westwood One radio network tapped host Vince Coglianese to fill Bongino’s afternoon time slot after the Queens native went to the FBI. Many of Bongino’s supporters expressed excitement about having him back on the airwaves.
“Bongino is back baby!” wrote an X user going by “The Facts Dude.”
Others expressed hope he’d offer insight into the Justice Department’s handling of the slow-moving Jeffrey Epstein investigation Bongino speculated about as a podcaster before joining the FBI.
“We want the truth about Epstein now that you’ve seen it,” wrote social media user Braedon Sorbo.
Sen. Chuck Schumer used X to question the Trump administration‘s failures to meet Congressional deadlines with regards to its findings.
“What are they trying to hide?” Schumer asked.
