Blake Lively breaks silence on 'lowest lows' of Justin Baldoni legal battle

NEW YORK — Blake Lively is breaking her silence on her legal battle with “It Ends With Us” director and co-star Justin Baldoni and the “lowest lows” it has wrought in recent months.
The “Gossip Girl” alum, 37, spoke out on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” early Friday in her first late night interview since accusing Baldoni, 41, of sexual harassment on the film’s set, followed by a retaliatory smear campaign — both of which claims Baldoni denies.
“No surprise, I’ve had a pretty intense year,” Lively said. “And [my kids] are just like my lifeline. No matter what day I’m having, I have to be Disneyland for them. And so it’s like, it’s the best. I mean it’s chaos. But it’s the best.”
Lively shares four kids with husband Ryan Reynolds. The “Deadpool” star, 48, is also named in Baldoni’s $400 million defamation lawsuit against Lively and her publicist, Leslie Sloane.
Lively said she was thrilled that Meyers, 51, is no longer a Weekend Update anchor on “Saturday Night Live,” as he would be “quite informed” on the particulars of the case, which kicked off in December and is headed to trial next March.
“What I can say without going too into it is that this year has been full of the highest highs and the lowest lows of my life,” said Lively. “And I see so many women around, afraid to speak, and especially right now, afraid to share their experiences.”
Lively added that “fear is by design” as it “keeps us silent.
“I also acknowledge that many people don’t have the opportunity to speak. So I do feel fortunate that I’ve been able to. And it’s the women who have had the ability to use their voice that’s kept me strong, and, you know, helped me in my belief in my fight for the world to be safe for women and girls. It’s a pretty simple thing,” she said to applause.
Lively first leveled sexual harassment claims against Baldoni in a late December complaint, central to a New York Times article. “We Can Bury Anyone,” prompted Baldoni to file a $250 million libel lawsuit against the paper as Lively sued him.
In January, in his $400 million lawsuit against Lively’s camp, Baldoni also accused the trio of civil extortion.
