Hot to trot: Your guide to the musical fare at the 2025 San Diego County Fair

SAN DIEGO — It wasn’t so long ago that the San Diego County Fair was known as the Del Mar Fair. And it wasn’t so long ago that the fair’s Grandstand Stage hosted concerts by Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Bruno Mars, Van Halen, Brian Wilson, Linda Ronstadt, R.E.M., Emmylou Harris, the Pretenders and such now-deceased legends as Count Basie, Johnny Cash, Sarah Vaughan, Loretta Lynn, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Merle Haggard.

Those days may be behind us, but the fair’s Grandstand Stage concerts continue to be an annual staple of San Diego’s summer concert season. And if this year’s lineup lacks the legends of previous years, it still offers attendees a varied musical bill of fare.

Here is the full lineup for the 2025 edition, which opens June 11, runs through July 6, and will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

This year’s fair will also see the return of the tribute band-dominated Paddock Concert Series and the debut of Summer Nights at The Sound, a new “immersive, theatrical and comedic” series at The Sound, the $17 million music venue at the fairgrounds that opened with a performance by Ziggy Marley in 2023. Marley, by coincidence, will perform on the Grandstand Stage on July 5. For tickets, visit sdfair.com/p/what-to-do/grandstand.
