In theaters this weekend: Margot Robbie's 'Bold' romance, football horror tale 'Him' and more
Published in Entertainment News
Margot Robbie returns to screens for the first time since "Barbie," a star quarterback learns how far he'll go to make it to the big time, and two of today's hottest young male stars travel back to the early 1900s.
Here's a look at what's new in theaters and on streaming this weekend.
'A Big Bold Beautiful Journey'
Two big movie stars (Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell), a buzzy director (Koganda) and a mystical romance, what can go wrong? A lot, it turns out. Robbie and Farrell play a pair of singles who are brought together by a magical GPS system which guides them to a romantic lunch at Burger King — you still with me here? — in this big, bold, beautiful failure. In theaters. (Review here.)
'Him'
There is a movie to be made about the cult of sports obsession and the win-at-any-cost nature of modern professional athletics, but this bloody horror movie about a quarterback (Tyriq Withers) training under the tutelage of his idol (Marlon Wayans) isn't it. In theaters. (Review here.)
'The History of Sound'
Paul Mescal and Josh O'Connor star in this understated period romance, which may be a little too understated for its own good. In theaters. (Review here.)
'Swiped'
Lily James plays Tinder co-founder and Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe in this tech world biopic, which feels like a TV miniseries crammed into a two-hour framework. On Hulu. (Review here.)
'Apollo 13'
Ron Howard's 1995 space adventure, starring Tom Hanks, Gary Sinise, Bill Paxton and Kevin Bacon, is back on screens, in IMAX, for its 30th anniversary.
