Television Q&A: When will 'Palm Royale' return for Season 2?
Published in Entertainment News
You have questions. I have some answers.
Q: When will the new season of “Palm Royale” begin?
A: The Apple TV comedy about life among the privileged in Palm Beach will begin a second season on Nov. 12. According to the streamer, in the second season “Maxine (Kristen Wiig) is left a social pariah after a scandalous public breakdown. She’ll have to draw on her deep well of cleverness and cunning to prove, once and for all, that not only does she belong, but she just might have what it takes to rule this town.”
Q: What happened to NBC’s “Grosse Pointe Garden Society”? The first season ended with clips from what seemed to be upcoming episodes in a new season. Please tell me the show is coming back on some sort of platform!
A: The scandal and other doings among members of a garden club have come to an end. NBC canceled the series after a single, 13-episode season. Ratings were not great, and the network considered moving it to its streaming companion Peacock – but, Deadline.com reported, that idea did not work out either. But you can still find the original episodes on Peacock.
Q: I just watched the Season 1 finale of “The Rainmaker” (on USA and Crave) and wondered if you knew if there would be a second season. I loved the show and am hoping for more.
A: NBC recently announced plans for a second season of the drama based on the John Grisham novel (which also inspired a Matt Damon movie of the same name). But it could look different from the first season. Before the renewal announcement, series creator Michael Seitzman told TV Insider, “I have a lot of ideas for Season 2, but none of them have really calcified yet in my mind, and some of them include those characters (from the first season), and some of them don’t. There’s a part of me that wonders if we just completely wipe the slate clean in Season 2 … There’s another part of me that wonders how I could bring them back, but it’s a tricky thing. I have to think about it some more.”
Q: In “Monster: The Ed Gein Story”; the performances by Charlie Hunnam (as Gein), Laurie Metcalf (as Gein’s mother) and Tom Hollander as Alfred Hitchcock were phenomenal! However, I was more intrigued with Alfred Hitchcock’s story. Do you have any information on if there may be plans for a future biopic movie based on Hitchcock’s life? (If so, I suggest Hollander as the lead).
A: Alfred Hitchcock (1899-1980) has been the subject of many books and documentaries, and while I don't know of plans for a new film about him, there have been a couple of dramas in the past. Neither covers his entire life, instead focusing on major parts. “Hitchcock,” from 2012, starred Anthony Hopkins as the director and Helen Mirren as his wife, and focused on the making of “Psycho” – which, as you know, was inspired in part by Ed Gein. That same year brought “The Girl,” a movie about Hitchcock and his leading lady Tippi Hedren during the making of “The Birds” and “Marnie." Toby Jones was Hitchcock and Sienna Miller was Hedren. Critical consensus is that neither film ranks with Hitchcock’s own best work.
