Hugh Jackman teases potential return as Wolverine in the MCU: 'Never say never again!'

Hugh Jackman has teased he could return as Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
After leading 20th Century Fox's X-Men franchise for nearly two decades, the 57-year-old actor appeared in the MCU with 2024's Deadpool and Wolverine, and while he has not confirmed whether he will return, Jackman has hinted his time wielding the claws could continue.
During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, the host asked Jackman: "Every time you're on, you gotta go, 'Nope, I'm not doing that again.'
"But then you keep making another one. And it's a big, big hit. So are you gonna have to do it again?"
Jackman teased: "Maybe … I am never saying 'never' again!"
The Song Sung Blue star added he had initially planned to retire Wolverine for good following 2017's Logan, but he eventually "changed his mind" and agreed to star opposite Ryan Reynolds' Merc with a Mouth in Deadpool and Wolverine.
He continued: "I did mean it when I said 'never', until the day when I changed my mind. But I really did for quite a few years, I meant it.
"I have done 10 films now, so I think they have enough for an AI version of me!"
While Jackman's Marvel future is uncertain, several of his X-Men co-stars are returning for Avengers: Doomsday.
The 2026 blockbuster will star Sir Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Sir Ian McKellen (Magneto), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Channing Tatum (Gambit), James Marsden (Cyclops) and Rebecca Romijn (Mystique).
Meanwhile, Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Sebastian Stan (James 'Bucky' Barnes), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent) and Lewis Pullman (Sentry) are also confirmed to appear in the film.
Finally, the Fantastic Four - as portrayed by Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (The Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing) - round out the cast.
Avengers: Doomsday - which is being helmed by Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo - will likely follow the Avengers, the New Avengers, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four as they desperately try to stop Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) from unleashing his devastating plans across the Multiverse.
Previously, X-Men star James Marsden said returning as the mutant superhero in Avengers: Doomsday was "a nice little homecoming" for him.
The 52-year-old actor - who played the mutant superhero from 2000's X-Men until the character's death in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand - told Vanity Fair: "I'm getting a little long in the tooth to put on the superhero costume.
"I was excited because you're a part of something gigantic, and I've spent 20 years listening to people say, 'When are you coming back? When are you coming back? Are you coming back?' I'm dead. Well, maybe not.
"I'm going to have a tough time struggling to get into costume if they waited a couple more years."
