DETROIT — A summertime tradition is on hold this year as Dave Matthews Band is skipping Pine Knob on its summer tour for only the second time in 20 years, in favor of two dates at Grand Rapids' Acrisure Amphitheater.

The group will perform at the new venue on July 7 and 8, according to tour dates released Tuesday. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Feb. 20 via Ticketmaster. Presales are now open for members of the Dave Matthews Band Warehouse.

Since 2006, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers have only passed up Pine Knob one other time, in 2011. (They also didn't play the venue in 2020, but then no one did, as the summer touring season was halted by the COVID-19 pandemic, but they were scheduled to play there before the concert industry went on hiatus.)

The group's annual stops in Metro Detroit go back to a performance at Ann Arbor's Blind Pig in 1994. Prior to Pine Knob becoming the band's area venue of choice, Dave Matthews Band performed at Joe Louis Arena (2005), the Palace of Auburn Hills (1998-99, 2002-2004) and Comerica Park (2000-01).

The band performed two shows at Pine Knob in 1996 and once in 1997, and at Meadow Brook in 1995.

The Acrisure Amphitheater celebrates its grand opening on May 15 when Lionel Richie performs at the newly constructed 12,000-capacity outdoor venue.

Other shows on the Acrisure's inaugural docket include MGK (June 17), Meghan Trainor (June 18), "Weird Al" Yankovic (July 3), John Mellencamp (July 10), Goo Goo Dolls (Aug. 11), Mötley Crüe (Aug. 27), Pitbull (Sept. 10) and John Mulaney (Sept. 12).

Dave Matthews Band's last area appearance was July 2025 at Pine Knob.
