Catherine O'Hara's family is planning a "private celebration of life".

The Home Alone star passed away on Friday (30.01.26), at the age of 71, following a "brief illness," and an obituary shared with Just Jared has revealed her family, which includes her husband Bo Welch and their sons, Matthew and Luke, will host a memorial in private.

It said: "A private celebration of life will be held by the family."

No cause of death is known at this time.

An ambulance was called out to the actress' Brentwood home just before 5am on the morning of her death, and she was reported to be in a "serious condition". She passed away in a Los Angeles hospital.

Tributes have flooded in for the Beetlejuice legend.

Her on-screen son in Home Alone, Macaulay Culkin, paid a heartfelt tribute to Catherine.

The 45-year-old actor posted two throwback photos of himself and Catherine and wrote on Instagram: "Mama.

"I thought we had time.

"I wanted more.

"I wanted to sit in a chair next to you.

"I heard you.

"But I had so much more to say.

"I love you.

"I'll see you later. (sic)"

One of the photos was taken during the time Macaulay and Catherine starred together in the Home Alone film franchise. The second photo was taken in 2023, when the late actress attended Macaulay's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.

Pedro Pascal also took to social media to heap praise on his former co-star.

The actor - who starred alongside Catherine in The Last of Us - wrote on Instagram: "Oh, genius to be near you. Eternally grateful. There is less light in my world, this lucky world that had you, will keep you, always. Always [heart emoji]

"The one and ONLY #CatherineOHara (sic)"

Her Beetlejuice co-star Michael Keaton said: "We go back before the first Beetlejuice.

"She's been my pretend wife, my pretend nemesis and my real life, true friend.

"This one hurts. Man am I gonna miss her. Thinking about Beau as well. (sic)"

Justin Theroux, who appeared in 2024's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, also paid tribute to the actress.

He wrote on Instagram: "Oh Catherine. You will be so so missed (sic)"
