Doja Cat details struggle with mental health disorder

Doja Cat has shared her "agonising" struggle with borderline personality disorder (BPD) in a new video.
The 30-year-old singer has been battling the mental health condition - which affects the way people see themselves and others and can cause impulsiveness and extreme emotions - "probably forever" but has always tried to "pretend" that she is happy.
In a new TikTok video, in which she defended Chappell Roan after she was recently seen filming fans and paparazzi after asking them to leave her alone, Doja said: "I've learned from a very young age to pretend that I like stuff, to pretend that I'm happy, to pretend that I don't like stuff that I do, to appear like everything is okay.
"I'll get it done. And it caught up with me, and I think it always does for people. I'm now struggling with BPD."
Doja admitted she had been struggling with the disorder for "probably forever" but she is "proud" of her progress.
She continued: "It's an agonising condition.
"I've been in therapy for years now, and I am so relieved and so proud of myself.
"I've made it so far and I still make mistakes, but it is an eight-year process of curing, treatment and healing."
The Paint the Town Red hitmaker stressed she was "not diagnosing Chappell Roan with BPD" but understands why the Good Luck Babe! can sometimes struggle in the spotlight, and she admires the star's honesty.
She said: "I love that she can be uncomfortable comfortably in front of people and protect herself.
"I had to learn how to be honest with myself. I lied to myself for years--for most of my life--and to see her sit there, I love it.
"I love that she can do that without hurting people. She hasn't hurt one person by being herself, and that shows that I can do the same...
"Let her have an attitude, because I would love to have one as well, and I f****** will, hopefully in the future."
Doja also agreed with Chappell's distrust of paparazzi and thse who "pose as fans and ask for signatures".
She said: "To be like 'f*** the paparazzi' is the best way to be because f*** them...
"I'm a person in this profession, I do this, there are people who are not fans that show up and they want you to sign stuff, and they go and they sell it wherever. Artists aren't just ignoring people because they're full of themselves."
