NEW YORK — Stevie Wonder plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of his beloved album “Songs In the Key of Life” with a world tour.

With hit singles such as “Sir Duke,” “Isn’t She Lovely” and “I Wish,” 71-year-old Wonder plans to perform the album — a double LP made up of 21 songs — in its entirety during every show. It was released back in September 1976, debuting at number one on the Billboard charts before taking home the Grammy for album of the year.

“Stevie Wonder continues to captivate audiences around the world with performances that showcase his unmatched musicianship, as one of the most celebrated live performers in music history,” a Live Nation said in a press release to UPI.

“At a time when the world continues to search for connection, healing and joy, the messages at the heart of Songs in the Key of Life feel as urgent and necessary today as they did in 1976.”

The tour is scheduled to kick off in Europe, with the first show slated for Birmingham, England, on Oct. 13. Other stops include Paris, Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Hannover, Cologne, Amsterdam and Dublin, before a return to the U.K. for shows in London and Manchester. Wonder will wrap the European leg of the tour on Nov. 11 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Then, he’ll make his way to the United States. His first show there will be in Madison Square Garden in New York on Nov. 19, with additional shows in Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Detroit.

Wonder’s final performance will be Dec. 19 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.

Tickets for the tour will go on sale beginning Wednesday, 10 a.m. local time for Europe and the United Kingdom while the general on-sale starts Thursday at 10 a.m. local time for North America, with the exception of the Detroit shows, which will go on sale Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. local time.
