DETROIT — Chris Hansen finally had a seat at a screening of "Primetime," which is based on his story.

The movie stars Robert Pattinson as the "To Catch a Predator" host, and Hansen — who was not consulted in any way prior to or during the making of the movie — had not seen the movie before it opened to the public.

Well, he finally got eyes on it Thursday.

"I don't know, it was so bizarre and so in-and-out of reality, it's hard for me," he said in a video posted to his social media channels on Friday, Sept. 25.

"Obviously I'm not objective, because the character is, you know, me. But it was so detached from reality or anything that I've ever experienced then or now, doing the investigations, I'm not sure what the point of it was."

Hansen will give his full review on his podcast, "Have a Seat With Chris Hansen," which is set to go live at 7 p.m. Sept. 25.

"Primetime" is a look at Hansen, the Metro Detroit-raised TV journalist, and the making of "To Catch a Predator," the '00s reality TV hit where Hansen and his team would catch subjects soliciting sex from minors.

The movie has received mostly positive reviews from critics, and has an 87% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film earned $2.7 million in previews on Thursday, and is set to earn more than $20 million at the box office this weekend, according to tracking numbers.
