The Dawning of the Age

Holiday Mathis on

The reason the "Age of Aquarius" was the catchy phrase of a musical phenomenon might have been the feeling about the zodiac sign of openness, philanthropy, philosophy and general optimism toward tomorrow. This solar start to Aquarius season ushers in decidedly mixed emotions, and even so they are sure to raise in the weeks to come.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). Your thoughts matter, and processing them is important. No matter how trifling some of your worries seem to you, air them to figure out what kind of connection and support you need. Today you will share in safety -- no judgment, only care.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Gentle but clear accountability is missing from your plan. You don't have to give up dreaming; it's part of what makes you unique and vibrant. Instead, ask yourself: What one thing can I do to give this dream a foothold in reality?

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Plan an exciting event about 90 days from now. It will be the sort of target that puts a dozen other desires and aims into alignment. The right goal will add sparkle to your days leading up to its realization without burdening your schedule in any way.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). You're doing so well in creating the boundaries that suit you and recognizing where you've been giving too much energy to people who don't deserve it. You're ready to move toward relationships where you can just be without a lot of anxiety and pressure.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Some people like conflict, and they seem to seek it. They focus on what they'll say and do when they're in it. They don't consider the impact it will have on others. It's a recipe for frustration for someone like you, who values real connection.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). The magic of an illusion often lies in the distance between the audience and the mechanisms of its creation. Perspective is everything, often shaping what seems real. A small shift in position can reveal the truth or deepen the mystery.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). The world at large smiles with you today even if the familiar faces may take your cheerfulness for granted. This is why it's important to mix and mingle. It helps you appreciate what you offer by just being you.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). The quiet strength of your presence will bring solutions without unnecessary noise or effort. Ignore complications and they'll go away. Serenity and clarity are on offer when you keep your life simple, releasing all that is outside your control.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Your drive sets the tone. Success depends on everyone doing their part. It also depends on getting the rest you need because challenges require mental sharpness and quick responses. You'll set the standards and lead by example.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You relate to people who are very different from you. You navigate their worlds with the ease of someone who's at home in any place at all. Wherever you are, no matter how foreign, you always seem to find a way in.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Don't just click the "agree" button today because some caution is indicated in the contracts that pass before you. "The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away." -- Tom Waits

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Attention is not a one-size-fits-all situation. It may take time and experimentation to figure out what kind of tone, communication and overall energy fits the problem. You'll get it just right and the heart-door swings open.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Jan. 18). If life is improvisation, you're a shining-star spontaneous genius. You'll be thrown the delightful curves that only make you better. More highlights: You'll drop a struggle because you can finally afford to. You'll work your way up into the higher rankings of a winning team. You'll send your love straight to the hearts that matter most to you as you journey together. Sagittarius and Gemini adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 2, 40, 33, 7 and 16.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Kevin Costner has poured over three decades of his rebel soul into "Horizon: An American Saga," an epic set during the Civil War era. Costner's grounded Capricorn sun is balanced by astral persuasions from every element, but passionate fire sign energy is the most prevalent in his natal chart. The Academy Award-winning artist was born when the moon and Venus were in Sagittarius, the sign of other worlds, and lucky Jupiter and rebellious Uranus were in Cancer, the sign of America.
