Q: I recently saw a book titled “What’s Wrong with the World?” The author puts forth the answer: Sin is responsible for the state of the world. It seems that the real answer with what’s wrong with the world is evil. If we could find a way to obliterate evil, we wouldn’t be concerned with this religious idea of sin, because evil exists in religion as well as outside of religion. Who can actually claim that sin is the reason the world is a mess? – S.E.

A: Sin, indeed, is what’s wrong with the world. This is the answer from Almighty God who created the universe and mankind. He made man in His image, but something happened – mankind rebelled against God and broke His law – and God called it sin. We’ve all inherited the problem of sin, this disease of the soul and the spirit. The result of sin, the Bible says, is death.

Consider what makes people hate, what makes people angry, what makes people kill. The lust, the greed, and the hate in the world come as a result of sin in the human heart. The human heart is separated from God. God desires that all people receive His salvation, but we must humble ourselves before Him, repent, and be saved. Out of His great love, He offers each one His forgiveness.

People from every nation are hungry for the Bread of Life, and Jesus is the life-giving source of abundant life in Him. He is the Light of the World. Christ wants to bring His light into human hearts, transforming them, turning the heart from darkness to light.

There’s not a day that we do not have a chance to choose between the evilness of sin and the glorious promises from God’s Word – the grace of God that brings salvation. You can know that wonderful salvation today.
