SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Athletics’ spring schedule has been released and includes matchups against Brazil’s World Baseball Classic team, along with a pair of games in their prospective future home, Las Vegas.

The A’s will participate in the Cactus League during spring training, based in Mesa, Ariz., where they will play home games at Hohokam Stadium, which seats 10,500.

The spring slate opens Feb. 21 with the A’s facing the Chicago White Sox at Camelback Ranch nearby Glendale. They return to Mesa the next day for their home opener against the Cleveland Guardians.

Other teams the A’s will play in Arizona in February include the San Francisco Giants, Milwaukee Brewers, Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals.

March games include a March 3 matchup with Team Brazil from the World Baseball Classic, which features outfielder Dante Bichette — the older brother of Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette.

Other notable opponents include the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners, Arizona Diamondbacks, Cincinnati Reds and Colorado Rockies.

The A’s will play in front of Las Vegas fans when they host the Los Angeles Angels in back-to-back, split-squad games March 7 and 8 at Las Vegas Ballpark, home to the club’s AAA Aviators team. The venue sits on 8 acres in downtown Summerlin and seats nearly 8,200.

There will be a chance to catch A’s young teenage prospect shortstop Leo De Vries, the No. 3-ranked prospect in the MLB who was a part of the blockbuster trade in July that sent relief ace pitcher Mason Miller to the Padres. He is scheduled to face Brewers shortstop Jesús Made, the No. 4-ranked prospect, on March 22.

Another top prospect expected to see playing time is third baseman Tommy White, known as “Tommy Tanks” for hitting 75 home runs during his college career at LSU.

The MLB regular season opens March 26, when the A’s visit the defending American League champion Toronto Blue Jays. Their home opener in West Sacramento begins April 3 with a three-game series against the Houston Astros at Sutter Health Park.
