Hawks extend Dyson Daniels' contract

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Hawks have extended guard Dyson Daniels, according to a person familiar with the situation.
The team reportedly upped the 22-year-old to a four-year $100 million contract.
Daniels has played a big role in helping turn the Hawks’ defense around last season. He led the NBA in steals last season and helped take the Hawks from being the league’s fourth worst defense to, at their best, 11th place in the league.
The Hawks beat the Monday deadline to sign players drafted in 2022 to sign rookie-scale contract extensions by just under three hours. They avoid the negotiations spilling into restricted free agency next offseason and shores up one of the team’s foundational pieces.
