DETROIT — Hours after the NBA trade deadline, teams often find themselves shorthanded. The Washington Wizards exemplified this situation, particularly after their major acquisition of Anthony Davis, which left the team three players short on the bench. All-Star guard Trae Young observed from the sidelines of Little Caesars Arena, where he remained unable to make his debut.

The Detroit Pistons delivered their worst performance of the season in a 126-117 loss to the Wizards on Thursday.

Cade Cunningham led the Pistons with 30 points, eight assists and eight rebounds. Duncan Robinson finished with 18 points on 5-of-13 shooting. Ron Holland II added 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Six players scored in double figures for the Wizards as Will Riley led the way with 20 points, five assists and five rebounds. The key factor in the game was 3-point shooting, which made the biggest difference. The Wizards finished the game shooting 43.9% with 18 made triples. Detroit shot 8 of 32 on 25.0% shooting.
