ORLANDO Fla. — Roughly nine days ago at Kia Center, the Magic took down the Wizards to jumpstart a season-long five-game winning streak.

But hosting Washington for the first time since the Southeast Division foe allowed Miami’s Bam Adebayo score 83 points on Tuesday, Orlando was aware the Wizards would likely come out with extra energy Thursday after they were on the wrong side of history earlier this week.

Playing on the second night of a back-to-back at home, coach Jamahl Mosley‘s squad needed an extra five minutes to secure its sixth consecutive win in its fifth overtime game of the season.

Jalen Suggs led the way with 28 points, Tristan da Silva scored a career-high 26 and Desmond Bane added 22 for the Magic, which held on for a 136-131 victory against the Wizards. Wendell Carter Jr. added 19 and Paolo Banchero scored 18 for Orlando.

Washington’s Bilal Coulibaly tied the game at 123 with his fourth 3-pointer of the night and only 5.4 seconds left in regulation. The Wizards outscored the Magic 42-27 in the fourth quarter before Orlando won the extra period 13-8.

Appearing in just his third game with the Wizards since he was acquired from Atlanta ahead of last month’s NBA trade deadline, Trae Young scored 15 points in 21 minutes while second-year center Alex Sarr notched 16.

For Washington (16-49), the loss was the team’s 10th straight.

The Magic (37-28) head to Miami next for the fifth and final meeting of the regular season against the Heat on Saturday.

Super Suggs

Suggs scored 12 in the first half and followed that up by scoring eight in the third quarter, notching 20-plus points for the 10th time this season. Scoring five in the extra period, his third triple of the night came with 1:27 left in overtime to put the Magic ahead 134-131.

Suggs added eight assists, four rebounds and two steals in 34 minutes.

Isaac update

Jonathan Isaac didn’t enter the game until midway into the third quarter and was only on the floor for less than two minutes.

Isaac fell hard to the floor after a failed alley-oop attempt and remained down for an extended amount of time. He was able to eventually get up and slowly walk off the court on his own power heading to the locker room.

During the fourth quarter, the Magic said Isaac would not return to the game due to a left knee sprain. Isaac will continue to be evaluated, the team said.

Rookie watch

Second-round pick Noah Penda entered late in the first quarter but was held scoreless in nine first-half minutes. He grabbed three rebounds with two assists but never took a shot in 14 minutes.

First-round pick Jase Richardson didn’t see the floor.

Magic raise funds

The Orlando Magic Youth Foundation’s top fundraising event, the Orlando Wine Festival & Auction held on Feb. 28 at the Four Seasons Resort Orlando, raised more than $2 million for the foundation that benefits at-risk children in Central Florida, according to the team.

This was the first time the even raised $2-plus million, the team said. In its sixth year, the sold-out fundraising event included live and e-auctions, as well as an outdoor festival, featuring live music, local and celebrity chefs, wineries and food pavilions.

“The family involvement is why my father started this (and) what he was all about,” Magic chairman Dan DeVos said. “He wanted a place where the family could get together, be together, have fun together and work together. This grabs everything into one, and then you add onto it the ability to get involved with the community to try and make a difference in different ways.”
