NFL WEEK 11 THURSDAY PICK

JETS (2-7) at PATRIOTS (8-2)

Line: NE by 12 1/2.

Cote’s pick: NE, 27-13.

TV: 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Prime Video.

Patriots are legit-scorchin’ on a seven-game win streak as blossoming star QB Drake Maye climbs in league MVP odds and Mike Vrabel vaults to lead in Coach of the Year derby. And New England is off a quality victory in Tampa last week. Jets have escalated from abysmal to merely real bad with two wins in a row, including a defeat of Cleveland in the Game of the W-e-a-k. This is one of those you-know-who’ll win matchups with the large point spread the only question. The disparity in this AFC East rivalry is entrenched, too, with Jets having lost 13 of past 14 trips to the hinterland of Foxboro. The only hesitations on the near-two-TD spread: Teams have split games the past two seasons; Jets have shown signs of no-quit; and division games in prime time tend to tighten a bit. An added wild card is the expected hello-winter weather: Mid-30s with a feel-like in low 20s and wind gusts up to 28 mph. Bottom line: Jets’ only hope to cover the line (and far less probably to win outright) is a very low-scoring game. Only thing New York does well offensively is get the ball to RB Breece Hall, but nobody stops the run better than Pats’ D. Planes-plus-points is a reasonable risk, but a better one is home domination by the surging division leader.
