LAS VEGAS — Cole Sillinger scored 52 seconds into overtime to lift the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 2-1 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena on Thursday night.

The goal came just after Ilya Samsonov denied Kent Johnson on a breakaway and Zach Werenski’s rebound was stopped, leaving Sillinger with an easy finish.

Tomas Hertl put the Knights (31-15-6) ahead in the first period, extending his point streak to a career-best 11 games. He is now just one short of Jack Eichel’s franchise record, set last season.

The Blue Jackets (25-19-7) tied it later in the opening frame when the puck was jarred free in the crease after a Samsonov save and ended up in the net, with Adam Fantilli getting credit for the goal.

The Knights, who have lost three of their past four home games after regulation, will hit the road for a four-game trip starting on Sunday against the Rangers in New York before the 4 Nations Face Off.

The won’t play at home again until facing Vancouver on Feb. 22.
