PLYMOUTH, Mass. — A retired nurse charged with juror intimidation was only trying to get a photo of Lindsay Clancy when she allegedly captured members of the jury, according to her lawyer.

Dawn Light, 56, of Sutton, pleaded not guilty to aggravated intimidation of a juror at her arraignment Wednesday morning after being arrested the day before outside Plymouth County Superior Court.

According to Assistant District Attorney Nicole Piacentini, Light had parked in a restricted area of the court parking lot where jurors were exiting after a day of deliberations.

State Police officers asked Light if she’d gotten pictures of the jurors, but she denied that she had, the prosecutor said. However, when troopers looked through her phone’s deleted images, Piacentini said they identified a video of jurors.

Light was “seeking a picture of Miss Clancy and had no intention of interaction with the jurors,” the defendant’s attorney Jennifer White said.

The prosecutor requested $50,000 cash bail and asked that Light stay away from the courthouse, its grounds, and jurors and witnesses in the Clancy case. She was also asked not to disseminate images stored on her accounts and to preserve any evidence.

“There’s a lot of issues that come with it, it’s very clear that this is a situation that is very serious for the Commonwealth,” Piacentini said, justifying the bail request. “The sanctity of the judicial system is at risk because of her actions.”

White countered that Light was a local woman, with strong community ties, who retired after nursing for 25 years and now lives on a fixed income. Light also doesn’t have a criminal record, according to her attorney.

Judge Shelby Smith noted that bail was a tool to make sure that a defendant appears in court and decided to allow Light to be released on her own personal recognizance.

Light must abide by the restriction and follow the order issued by Judge William Sullivan for witness and jurors in the Clancy case. Light’s next court date is scheduled Oct. 15.

Meanwhile, the Clancy jurors continued their deliberations. Before being sent back to weigh the case, Sullivan brought each of the 12 jurors and six alternates to sidebar, had them swear in, and asked them questions about whether their impartiality had been impacted by anything.

The jurors have been deliberating Clancy case since last Thursday. The former labor and delivery nurse, is on trial for allegedly murdering her children Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, eight months, in January 2023. Clancy isn’t disputing that she killed the kids. Instead, her attorney Kevin Reddington put up an insanity defense, arguing that the Duxbury mom was suffering from postpartum psychosis.

The case has drawn attention from around the country and the world.

Every day Reddington walks out of the courthouse, he’s converged upon by a sea of reporters holding microphones, cameras, and phones.

Light was similarly bombarded Wednesday when she left following a visit with probation.

At one point, she started to run away from the reporters. She told them that she did see Clancy coming out of her van.
