Auto review: 2026 Escalade IQ proves Cadillac is still luxurious

As manufacturers continue to find new ways to please consumers both in terms of value and aesthetics, Cadillac keeps its eyes on the prize. With the Escalade IQ, an iconic top seller goes all electric with an impressive range of 460 miles.

Priced at $130,000 base, the newly designed Escalade IQ features a fresh body and platform delivering great performance for the seven-passenger SUV.

For drivers with a passion for the Escalade and Escalade V, the IQ is just another alternative to the gargantuan SUV that serves every possible purpose known to man.

Our weeklong tester, a 2026 Escalade IQL Sport, had a slew of standard features such as 22-inch wheels, Super Cruise autonomous driving, 55-inch curved display screen, heads-up display, panoramic sunroof and illuminated grille, to name a few. Extras such as rear seat entertainment system and upgraded paint (Black Cherry Tint) totaled just over $3K.

Weighing in at just over 9,000 pounds, the Escalade IQL is a gunboat on wheels, which not surprisingly offers a level of comfort beyond virtually anything available in today’s vehicle market. It's a heavy vehicle, but that adds to the ride quality and low interior noise level.

Drivers who stress over EV charging can take heart. The Escalade IQ's 460-mile range is farther than 99% of drivers will venture in one day. Simply plug the IQL in every night after a long day, and wake up to a full charge. For those using it as a daily cruiser around town, a weekly charge is likely more than enough.

With the 2026 Escalade IQ in the fleet, Cadillac's competitors certainly have their hands full even attempting to keep up. This EV SUV's simple display of excellence confirms that Cadillac means business, staking its claim at the top of the General Motors stable of brands.
