Trump blocked Israeli plan to kill Iranian leader Khamenei

President Donald Trump vetoed an Israeli plan to kill Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, after Israeli officials said they had an opportunity, according to a senior U.S. official.
U.S. officials have been in close touch with Israeli officials ever since they launched a series of missile and drone strikes on Iran. It’s unclear if Trump personally delivered the message waving Israel off a possible assassination plan.
Asked about the move, which was reported first by Reuters, Israeli national security adviser Tzachi Hanegbi told Israel’s N12 News that the government doesn’t ask permission from the U.S. for targets and that Israel isn’t looking to overthrow the regime.
“Actually, there’s so many false reports of conversations that never happened and I’m not going to get into that,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Fox News. “We’ll do what we need to do, and I think the United States knows what is good for the United States.”
