BALTIMORE — Lamar Jackson was absent from Ravens practice in Owings Mills for a third straight day this week Friday as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

Jackson, who missed last week’s game against the Houston Texans, is expected to miss his second straight game when Baltimore hosts the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium. It would mark the first time since 2022 that the quarterback and two-time NFL Most Valuable Player has missed consecutive games because of an injury.

Though coach John Harbaugh declined to definitively rule Jackson out ahead the injury report, which was due late Friday afternoon, he did say that eighth-year veteran Cooper Rush will start for a second consecutive game if Jackson doesn’t play, with Tyler Huntley backing him up.

Last week, Rush completed 14 of 20 passes for 179 yards and was intercepted three times in a disastrous 44-10 loss at home to the Houston Texans. He was also 9 of 13 for 52 yards in relief of the injured Jackson during Baltimore’s 37-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium in Week 4.

“We have to be more efficient, on first and second down, especially, and get more manageable third downs,” Rush said Friday. “We were able to convert on a few kind of longer ones, but those are hard, those are rare. Just more efficiency, overall, to get us going.”

Rush added that Jackson is doing “everything he can” to return to the lineup, something that is expected to happen in Week 8 against the Chicago Bears following a bye next week.

Rush also said that he spent the week trying to clean up the turnover problems Baltimore had against the Texans.

“[Just working on being on] the same page with guys and things like that,” Rush said, adding that he hopes to build some rhythm after getting a second full week of first-team reps. “You have to take care of the ball, especially as a quarterback; it’s your job.

“You just have to make decisions [and] trust your feet. That usually leads to good things.”

The only other players missing from practice for Baltimore on Friday were linebacker Roquan Smith (hamstring) and wide receiver Devontez Walker (oblique). Cornerback Marlon Humphrey and fullback Patrick Ricard both returned to practice Thursday as limited participants.

Cornerback Chidobe Awuzie (hamstring) was working on a side field at the start of the viewing period Friday but joined the defensive backs for drills at the end of the open portion of practice.
